Massage Therapy - Pain Relief Tips to Relieve Pain

There's a long, well-known tradition in many parts of the world of giving a massage to those who visit a spa or wellness center. In some countries and cultures, however, this practice has not been embraced as a health-enhancing activity. In other areas of the globe, massage is used in much the same way as other treatments to alleviate pain, increase flexibility and restore balance in the body and mind. Many of these cultures also use aromatherapy, which has been shown to help with these same health-related issues. The question is: do Thai massage and Swedish massage have the same benefits for your well-being?

In essence, there is no difference between these two types of massage. In fact, they are almost exactly the same. In either case, an individual applies gentle pressure to the body with massage strokes. But a truly therapeutic massage differs in three key ways:

It's result-oriented. In other words, massage is not a therapeutic massage, although it can be helpful if one is seeking relief from chronic pain. Muscle tension is what leads to stiffness, soreness, redness and general irritability. If you want relief from chronic pain, muscle tension or stress, you should seek massage.

It's for muscle relief. Believe it or not, this benefit is often touted by those who offer Thai massage as a treatment option. Thai massage is an all-over stretch, and it stretches out the larger muscles of the body in addition to the smaller ones. The stretching promotes a better blood circulation, and it can relieve chronic inflammation. This is true for both out-of-the-chair and in-chair Thai massage therapy.

It's for deep relaxation. Because the massage is done in a reclined position, the whole body receives a massage in a natural healing way. The benefits include better oxygen flow, better lymphatic flow and better cellular absorption of nutrients. This is one of the many benefits of the use of aromatherapy essential oils, including ginger and clove oils.

It's for complete relaxation. There are massage uses that induce total relaxation; these are known as 홈타이 such as shiatsu and acupressure. These types of therapies manipulate the entire body to improve blood flow, eliminate toxins and improve energy. This is why it's great to use essential oils for a complete relaxation of the entire body.

It's for complete facial cupping. Yes, facial cupping is a massage technique that has been around for thousands of years. In this method of massage, the practitioner or massage recipient lies on their stomach, holds hands behind their head and applies long, circular motions over the forehead, cheeks and chin. This circular motion creates tiny electrical currents that stimulate the muscles and tendons, resulting in a relaxing effect that often results in a feeling of wellbeing. In addition, the massage recipient may experience increased circulation and increase lymphatic drainage, as well.

As you can see, massage doesn't need to take place only in a massage spa or at a luxury salon. You can create a relaxing experience in your own home using essential oils and incorporating massage techniques into your everyday life. With the right essential oils and a little imagination, your stress levels will be much lower and your pain will go away. So give yourself the gift of wellness today by giving a massage.

To get started on your massage therapy session, it's important to get some comfortable clothing on. Remember, you won't be wearing any special clothes during the actual massage, so feel free to wear what you feel is necessary. A good pair of gloves will also come in handy, as they will help to reduce the sensation of friction when rubbing against the body using the hands, arms, legs, back, and neck. Your therapist will provide you with a checklist of what to expect during your massage so don't be surprised if something is missing.

Once you arrive at the massage studio, your massage therapist will start with a brief review of the issue that requires your attention so that he or she can begin with the first step of the massage. First, they will work on the deeper layers of muscles, which will stimulate both circulation and increase lymphatic drainage. Next, the therapists will apply creams to the affected areas, working them in conjunction with the deeper massage. It's important to pay close attention to the flow of oxygen and nutrients as well as how your body is feeling because massage therapists are trained to pinpoint these areas and their functions for maximum benefit.

If muscle tension isn't enough to relieve your back pain, then painkillers may be prescribed by your therapist. At this point, you should prepare for the massage by either getting comfortable or dressing in loose, comfortable clothing. If your therapist has prescribed special lotions to apply before the massage, then you should prepare those as well, especially if you are allergic to any substances used. If you follow these tips, you should find that your massage provides very little discomfort, is relaxing, and can ease a number of muscle-related issues.
